The hallmark of the region are the state parks and reserves that offer unspoiled wilderness, hiking, cave exploration, waterfalls, and more.

Within minutes south of Cut Above Cabins are Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave. These parks are the most well known and draw hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

Old Man's Cave offers a hike down and through a large cave, Cedar Falls allows visitors to walk down to and swim in the pool of a large waterfall, and Ash Cave offers a hike both into and on top of an epic cave. For the more adventurous, multi-mile long hiking trails connect the three parks.

A few minutes west of Cut Above Cabins are Conkles Hollow and Rock House. These parks are less well known but just as impressive. Conkles Hollow offers a leisurely hike through the woods, and Rock House provides rugged hiking and climbing through rock formations.

Cantwell Cliffs and Lake Logan are north of Cut Above Cabins, near Logan. Cantwell Cliffs is out-of-the-way and offers some of the best adventure hiking in the area. Lake Logan provides fishing, boating, and swimming for those needing a break from a rough day of hiking.
