Old Man’s Cave
Old Man’s Cave got its name from a man living in the cave with his hunting dogs in the early 1800s. People who visit the location say that sometimes you still hear the sound of the hunting dog howling when there is a full moon. According to Columbus Underground, people have regularly seen the man and his dogs.
This is a mysterious place. It’s been said that a woman dressed in clothing from the 1920s can be seen sneaking around the woods near the cave. Don’t let that deter you from visiting this location because it is also a beautiful place for picnics and hiking.
In the late 1800s, it’s been said that two newlyweds attempted to cross Scotts Creek when their wagon slipped and fell into what is today known as Death Hole. Death Hole then was a 15-foot pool of water, and the newlyweds drowned. Today, people say they hear the “ghostly chatter of the couple along Scotts Creek Road” and near the creek. Some say that you can hear the horses and see a woman walking along the side of the stream.
