Fun Things to Do in Ohio with Kids
Couples trips, corporate outings, and girls' and boys' weekends are always fun getaways, but one of the most memorable kinds of trips to book is a family vacation. When you have a variety of ages in your family, ranging from adults to teenagers, kids to toddlers, and babies, you have to plan for a variety of things to do to accommodate everyone's interests. Although it's good to expose your kids to new experiences, it's also good to have some go-to activities in your back pocket in case they get antsy. When staying in your choice of our Cut Above Cabins, reference our list of things to do in Ohio with kids for fun options that everyone in the family will love.
Things to Do in Ohio with Kids:
Things to Keep in Mind As Ohio is a seasonal state, the weather is always a factor when choosing what to do. Our list here includes evergreen activities you can do throughout the year. Other things like mini-golf, swimming, hiking, and more are also great things to do in Ohio with kids, but for your convenience, you don't have to filter through this list depending on the time of year.
John Glenn Astronomy Park
In today's day and age, little stars don't twinkle as much because light pollution has clouded the night sky. Luckily, John Glenn Astronomy Park is one of the few places in Ohio where you don't have to worry about that. Here, you can observe the stars in their full beauty, whether you opt to look through the giant telescope on the roll-off roof observatory, or just looking up with your own eyes. During the day time, check out the special telescope that filters out harmful rays of the sun so that you can look directly at the star closest to Earth.
Athens Farmers Market
Although farmers markets don't initially seem like one of the things to do in Ohio with kids, the wide variety of vendors at the year-round Athens Farmers Market makes it a family adventure. Bring the whole crew and pick out the foods you want to try, whether it's the locally made maple candy, pizza, ice cream, Thai food, or coffee. Or, pick up ingredients and bring them back with you to your cabin to cook a family meal together. Creating memories like cooking together in the kitchen with ingredients you scouted out yourself is definitely one of the things to do in Ohio with kids you'll want to cross off your list.
Hocking Valley Scenic Railway
There's always a reason to hop aboard the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway. Round trips from the Nelsonville Depot and back make it easy, so you don't have to pack up your family's belongings halfway through the trip, unboard, and reboard halfway through the trip. Several themed rides add to the fun, such as the Santa Train, where festive decorations and visits with Santa create a fun atmosphere. Even if you go on a regular road trip ride, your kids will delight in the unusual mode of travel and the sights of the historic Hocking River Valley.
Things to Do in Hocking Hills
Although this is a list of things to do in Ohio with kids, they'll also double as things to do in Hocking Hills that kids and adults alike will appreciate. Depending on the season, there are plenty of things to do in and right outside your Cut Above cabin as well, whether it's swimming in Lake Logan, relaxing in your private hot tub, or curling up and watching a movie together on your blu-ray player.
